Health Benefits from Coconut Oil

You’re supposed to take one or two capsules about 20-30 minutes before you eat your meal, 2-4 times a day. By mealtime, the coconut oil’s satiation effect will be in full force, reducing your appetite and increasing your metabolism. Now, I’m not really trying to loose weight – I’m happy with the way I am now – but I’m very interested in seeing if this really works.

The main component in coconut oil (almost 50 percent) is lauric acid which is a medium chain fatty acid and is considered responsible for many of its health benefits. The only other abundant source of lauric found in nature is in human breast milk. Coconut oil is not stored in your body like other fats, its medium-chain fatty acids are quickly broken down in the liver to dispense immediate energy. When your metabolism speeds up, your cells will also function with better efficiency, which may lead to injuries healing faster and boosting your immune system.

It only keeps getting better, coconut oil has been proven to have anti-cancer effects especially of the colon and breast. This is due to the oils protective nature and ability to safeguard the body from infection whilst cleansing your system. Researches also believe that coconut oil’s lauric acid is a potential anti-bacterial and anti-viral agent. It is also said to prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol.

Weight loss or not, coconut oil seems to provide a lot of great health benefits! I’ve only been taking my capsules for about a week now and will tell you more about my experiences in a couple of weeks!
